Areas of Expertise

Individual Psychotherapy

The aim of individual therapy is to improve your overall quality of life. This is done by engaging in a collaborative therapeutic relationship with your therapist and creating meaningful goals. The process of therapy will help identify barriers to attaining your goals and develop effective resolutions for those barriers.

Couples/Marital Counseling

Sometimes you may find yourself having communication, trust, and intimacy concerns with your partner.  When this happens, it can disrupt your life not only in the relationship but other aspects of your life as well. Marital/couples counseling allows for you and your partner to benefit from a safe space designed to help both of you get back on the same page. Areas of growth such as coping skills and communication skills will be addressed to allow for successful resolutions of similar future concerns.

Family Counseling

Families are the foundations of our lives.  When we experience family issues it can contribute to negative ripple effects such as depression, anxiety, poor self-worth, trauma and anger. A key tool to help with family concerns is understanding how we were parented as children. Awareness of what tools we bring to the problem-solving table clarifies our strengths and areas of growth while informing the therapeutic process.

Group Therapy

It is an invaluable gift to know we are not alone. Group therapy helps us to be reminded of this fact. It allows for us to benefit from the strengths of those around us, collectively re-educate ourselves and brainstorm solutions collaboratively. Group therapy also provides a safe space to confront difficult realities while receiving meaningful support from others simultaneously.

My Approach

"“For what it’s worth: it’s never too late or, in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be. There’s no time limit, stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you’re proud of. If you find that you’re not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again.”-Eric Roth

Is your smile hiding a lot of emotional weight that is secretly weighing you down? As an Adlerian and CBT orientated clinician, Dr. Jones believes in the power of thoughts and encouragement. People want the same things. We want to be safe, we want to matter, and we want to belong. Sometimes, our methods toward achieving these three goals prove unsuccessful. At times, those methods become habits due to having worked effectively in the past. As life changes and evolves, so should we.

Using a collaborative solution-focused approach, we will examine those habits and how they make you and others around you feel. We will determine the current effectiveness of those methods and facilitate therapeutic re-education where necessary to evolve your way of approaching life. By changing problematic behaviors and the thoughts that fuel them, we will strive to bring relief to  the undesirable feelings of sadness, guilt, depression, anxiety, anger and hopelessness. You will receive non-judgmental positive regard, respect, and encouragement. Through your work, you will increase your self-esteem, self-worth and self-efficacy. Allowing your smile to become unencumbered again.
